| Female sexual satisfaction has been a very debatable issue even among specialists. The following questions normally arise: What does the climax feel like? Does every woman orgasm? Why it takes women much longer to climax? etc.
Orgasm from the physiological point of view
Once a woman has become excited, her heart and respiratory rates increase. Her breasts grow bigger, the nipples harden and the areolas enlarge. Some women blush red on their face, neck and/or chest. The visible part of the clitoris gets bigger, too.
The flow of blood to the pelvic area makes the vagina become much longer and wider, the labia get flat and open. These alterations in the sexual organs are called engorgement and lead to the pleasant feeling of warmth in the genitalia.
If the stimulation goes on, the alterations intensify. Still, the clitoris, instead of keeping enlarging, disappear into the clitoral hood and shortens by 50%. This signals that a woman will get climax soon. The climax begins with intense contractions in the outer vagina, the uterus and the anus and can either last for a few of seconds or up to 15 seconds. There can be 3 - 5 muscle contractions or provided an orgasm is powerful – more than 10. Besides, the two-thirds of the internal vagina opens up far wider. Contractions can occur not only in the genital area but all over the whole body, too. Some women ejaculate during climax. At the culmination the whole body may also get stiff.
Receptors involved
Though the entire body is effected during climax, the main area containing thousands of receptors is the clitoris. The stimulation of this very small organ is the main key to female climax. Hence, if the clitoris is neglected during sex, a woman is very unlikely to orgasm. The thing is that the vagina has got an insufficient number of receptors. In fact, the deeper inside you go, the fewer receptors are there.
The clitoris can be aroused either directly or indirectly. The indirect stimulation can occur when the male pubic bone applies pressure on the clitoris while the male thrusts or when the penis rubs against the outer genitals that are located near the clitoris and, hence, during the rubbing will direct the impulse to the highly sensitive organ. Still, statistics say that only 30 – 40 women out of 100 peaks in the face-to-face position in which the clitoris is stimulated indirectly.
So, the “cowboy” position with a female on top of a male which allows a man to get the access to the clitoris easily and stimulate it directly – by fingers – will be a lot more efficacious in bringing a female to climax. Or a woman can stimulate the clitoris herself by choosing the “doggy” position. |
